Dive Pirates Foundation Announces 9th Annual Treasure Hunt at DEMA Show 2022
After last year’s success retooling the treasure hunt with a virtual map, pirate hats, and photo fun, the Dive Pirates will venture to Orlando to do it again; offering convention goers a chance to network with vendors and enter to win great pirate booty.
“Last year held so many unknowns, however staying true to our mission and to our recipients we forged ahead and had a great year,” said Tyler Brandes, President of the 501c3 not-for-profit organization committed to sharing adaptive diving with people of all abilities. “We are really looking forward to continuing our efforts to network with our pirate partners, our treasure hunters, and growing our membership offering 2 grand prize dive trips thanks to our friends at Clearly Cayman and Divi Flamingo.”
Dive Pirate memberships fund the foundation’s recipients’ dive equipment and training. Starting today anyone joining as a new member will be automatically entered into the grand prize drawing. Those who already support the foundation are also eligible to enter by either increasing their membership to the next level or by referring a friend.
“We definitely wanted to include the great people who are already members, so as long as they have a friend enter their name in the referral section as they sign up for a new membership, both the new member and the referrer get to enter, it’s a win-win,” Brandes continued. “You can set up a recurring membership for as little as $10 a month, and it’s an easy way to give directly to those who have lost some of their mobility so they can share in the very mobile sport of diving.”
Those taking in the convention can also play the treasure hunt. Treasure hunters can find a Dive Pirate hat with a secret QR code inside and start the hunt with any of the vendors listed below. All hunters will finish at the Dive Pirates booth, with a crew member verifying proof of piracy photos and sharing the code to register for the booty drawings on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 5:00 p.m. during the convention.
“Our pirate partners all donate great prizes for our booty drawing, and it draws such a crowd we decided to do them almost every day during the show. We couldn’t do it without them, so please make sure to visit their booths.”

Wrapping up its 18th year of sharing the freedom of diving with people with different abilities, the Dive Pirates Foundation looks forward to meeting with dive centers, operators, resorts, manufacturers, and retailers to find win-win partnerships to pay it forward and bring more adaptive divers into the mainstream dive community. Attendees and exhibitors are also encouraged to buy unique Dive Pirate merchandise on the online store, become a member with five different options to join, and or donate to the foundation.
