Shake off the cold by planning your 2020 Adventure with Dive Pirates‘ 16th Annual Trip
We invite divers, non-divers, families, and friends to take in this 16th annual trip. A trip that celebrates the human spirit.
The Dive Pirates Foundation eagerly releases this year’s 16th annual trip taking people with disabilities scuba diving off the shores of Cayman Brac.
“You don’t have to be a pirate. You don’t have to be an adaptive buddy. In fact, you don’t even have to be a diver to join us on our trips. You can experience the fun, the camaraderie, and the “no holds barred” attitude that surrounds everyone on these trips. You can experience the joy of diving and the social aspect that comes with it,” explained Dive Pirates President Sophie Wimberley.
Scheduled for June 13-20, 2020, the Dive Pirates plan to fill the Cayman Brac Beach Resort with recipients, adaptive dive buddies, volunteers and friends, and anyone else who would like to join the crew for a week of discovery with a fun-loving group. Dive Pirates focuses on veterans and first responders but is not exclusive and encourages anyone with a mobile disability to join the crew.
“I will be coming back with a little more life and say I can still have awesome trips and awesome times. This makes me more excited about life,” said 2019 Dive Pirates recipient Hunter Heck. During his junior year in college, a car struck Hunter a car and now lives with paraplegia.
The Dive Pirates Foundation
A non-profit organization that impacts the lives of its recipients. These recipients include injured military, first responders, law enforcement, and others with mobile disabilities. Adaptive scuba diving fosters accomplishment, self-worth, and community. The Foundation trains, equips, and conducts dive trips year-round. The trips are to calm, warm-water locations for the safety of those with spinal cord injuries. They also allow for networking with facilities willing to empower all participants with compassion and adaptation. This brings a positive experience of diving, team building, leadership, and relationship building.
