Rachael Johnson
Rachael remembers very clearly getting off work late one night and deciding to drive across the state to see a friend of hers; falling asleep at the wheel, awaking in time to miss a major guard rail. Swerving caused her to flip her car, and she landed in a ditch. No one saw the accident, so she listened to the cars going by overhead hoping someone would find her. Four hours later help came, and she credits those four hours to her very positive outlook on life. She didn’t know if she would survive, so now she celebrates every moment that she did survive; motivating her through rehabilitation, college, and life.
The accident severely bruised her spinal cord, causing quadriplegia. She was not in pain those four hours, and she knew her legs were more part of the car than her own body. She spent a year in rehab at QLI, and within six months she was back working on her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
Working to complete her masters and fulfill her dream to work as a child life specialist to help children and families cope with hospitalization, she is one busy and determined lady. She loves to try new things and has almost completed her training with DiVentures in Omaha, NE.
